How do Phone and Remote payments work today?
Here are the typical steps a business takes when taking a phone order
- Customer Calls to place an Order over the phone.
- Merchant takes the Customer Credit Card, and manually enters PoS.
- Merchant triggers order to back office (e.g., kitchen in case of restaurant) to fulfill the order.
What are the challenges with Phone & Remote payments?
While taking phone orders is critical for many businesses, it does expose the business and the customer to fraud risks.
- No 3D Secure Authorisation by Bank / Payment provider.
- All fraudulent charges (e.g. fake, stolen cards) will be borne by merchant i.e. no chargeback.
- Increased Employee Fraud risk, employees have access to Credit Cards
- Time consuming and subject to mistakes e.g., taking wrong CC details.
Eliminate Fraud with Conversational Payments

- Merchant triggers a conversational payment initiated by the Point of Sale (PoS) or a webform. Customer receives a payment request through their preferred communication (e.g., WhatsApp, email, SMS etc.).
- Customer pays (e.g., Apple Pay, Google Pay) and triggers 3D secure from Merchant’s bank.
- PoS or employee fulfill order to back end, only for 3D secure authorised payments.

- Merchant can integrate existing eCommerce stores (e.g., Shopify, Square etc.), allowing customers to shop through their favorite WhatsApp messaging app and checkout.
